Easter Illustration

This picture needs some explanation. It is a birthday gift for my friend and the picture is a memory from when we were 15 years old and at the music festival "Skive Beach Party" (now known as Skive Festival) for the first time.
So one of the last days at the festival we were walking peacefully a bit outside the festival area when this mini bus stopped next to us and some dudes stuck out their heads and asked my friend if they could taste her ice- cream. It turned out that it was a well known Danish rockband called "Magtens Korridorer" (the corridors of power?!?) so we freaked out and were so happy that they wanted to taste my friend's ice cream, as we listened to a lot of their songs at that time.

She got the picture yesterday and luckily she remembered the episode and we had a good laugh together.

My sister and the chickens

These are some sketches for an idea I have for a story. The story is starting to take more shape now and a lot of things are changing, but here are some sketches to show the mood and the general idea.

The Snuffle Snouted Poi continued

Here is the final shot I worked on for 2 weeks. Animation (the movement itself) is done by me, everything else is done by Simon Dilling (modelling, skinning, compositing etc).
It was super hard to work on the animation but I think it turned out okay at the end. This is my first 3d animation shot that has been through the whole cg pipeline, with rendering and everything. I really appreciate all the hard work Simon put into it, I think it looks awesome.

Snuffle Snouted Poi

Meet the Snuffle Snouted Poi. A quadruped creature created by me, CG artist Simon Dilling and animator Sabine Lynderup Pedersen. We all three worked on the design of the creature and this was the result.
The walk cycle is done by me.

The Snuffle Snouted Poi is a peaceful omnivorous creature who digs the dirt to find food. If provoked though his paws can hit very hard. He has got a high endurance so he walks a lot in search for his food.

To show the design progress here are some sketches and the end result.

suggestional sketches for design by me

Range of motion by Sabine Lynderup Pedersen and a little by me

Colour suggestions by me

Final design and integrated into background by Simon Dilling

Another exercise

To learn more about light/ shadow and colours I have set myself to paint shorter pictures with compositions taken from known films.
This is my first attempt taken from "Lost in Translation". It took about 2 hours. When I make the next one I will try to stylize it a bit more.

A painting

This Monday our class had the honour of being at a workshop with ex-disney animator and director Aaron Blaise. He showed us some cool bits and pieces and how he approached digital painting. It was a really inspiring day and this painting was something I did at the workshop. I would like to spend more time trying to improve my digital painting skills so there might be more of this popping up in the nearest future.
